walking down Divisadero yesterday afternoon we couldn't help but notice a slew of BBQ scented smoke eminating from Brother-in-law BBQ (Divisadero and Grove). it looked as enticing as it smelled and so we decided to finally stop in for a taste.
perusing the menu i noticed a note stating that it's now called Lilly's BBQ (no longer Brother-in-law). there were two jovial guys hamming it up in the kitchen. one was adding fresh meat to the smoker, while the other would hack up orders of ribs for the other patrons in line.
it seemed that everyone was ordering ribs, which was good cuz that's what we wanted. we settled on a half order for $8. full order was $13, and full rack for $25.
ordered the half order with hot bbq sauce on the side. there were about 2 or 3 big ribs and another 2 big chunky rib tips. we only needed a snack so this was the perfect amount of food. had we been eating a full meal we certainly would have split a full order.
the first thing i noticed was that the outside of the ribs were nicely carmelized. and the second thing i noticed was a very nice pinkish smoke ring ingrained in the meat. the ribs were juicy, tender and delicious. real solid BBQ. i'll definitely have to get back soon. they also have brisket and chicken and some other type of rib which I can't remember.
