Apollo Wheat, Gemin-IPA and Li’l Frankie’s Pale Ale to Debut June 28 in
East Village at Launch of Li’l Frankie's Happy Hour

BROOKLYN, NY, June 19, 2006 – It will be a cool summer in New York City as Brooklyn’s leading craft brewery – Sixpoint Craft Ales – introduces three new beers that will keep New Yorkers refreshed throughout the dog days of summer. The beers will debut on Wednesday, June 28 at 5:00 pm during a beer and food event at Li’l Frankie’s (19 First Avenue) that will also usher in the popular East Village Italian eatery Monday-Friday happy hour menu.

Brewed exclusively for Li’l Frankie’s, Li’l Frankie’s Pale Ale was born out of the great success the restaurant enjoys with Sixpoint’s Diesel Stout, Bengali Tiger IPA, and Brownstone Ale. The natural complement of pizza with beer led to Sixpoint brewmaster Shane Welch and the staff of Li’l Frankie’s to aspire to create the “perfect” beer for washing down the restaurant’s sublime pizza and red-sauce Italian specialties.

“We sat down one day over a dozen dishes and handful of pizzas and dreamt up a beer that would be lighter in body,” Welch explains, “yet still have an assertion of hops upfront with a dry finish. It nicely balances with the acidity and sweetness of the tomato sauce.”

The results are a must-taste. During happy hour, the staff will be slinging 48-ounce pitchers of the pale ale for $15.00 with all other pints of beer $5.00. For the June 28th event, a total of six Sixpoint beers will available including the Li’l Frankie’s Pale Ale, Bengali Tiger IPA, Diesel Stout, Brownstone Ale, Apollo Wheat and Gemin-IPA.

The Apollo Wheat represents Sixpoint’s first summer seasonal ale. The American wheat-styled beer is nearly white in color with a slightly creamy mouthfeel and crisp taste with just a hint of banana in the background. The Gemin-IPA is a double India Pale Ale that packs a massive amount of three different types of North American hops resulting in a strong citrus flavor at a whopping 11.7% ABV.

Among the new menu items Li’l Frankie’s is introducing include arancini (fried rice balls stuffed with beef ragu and mozzarella); mozzarella en carrozza (mozzarella stuffed fried finger sandwiches with a beef stock and pomodoro dipping sauce); daily rotating pizza rolls; cold octopus salad with celery and fennel; and cold antipasto.

All Sixpoint Craft Ales are unpasteurized and unfiltered and brewed in small, 15-barrel batches using mostly American hops, mostly European malts and yeast, and 100% New York City tap water.
