Legumes Lambi at Citadelle (Newkirk Plaza)

Well, I had promised myself I wouldn't post again about Citadelle, the new Haitian place that has recently opened at 28 Newkirk Plaza. I still haven't managed the trek to Krik Krak uptown for comparisons sake. But tonight I ordered delivery, and it's so good I had to post anyway!

The legumes lambi is a hearty and flavorful stew of conch and mixed vegetables (greens and root veggies) - this is my favorite of the items I've tried so far. Everything I've tried up to now has been good (stew goat, stew chicken, rice & peas, plantains) but the legumes lambi are just too good to pass up. Also try the pickled cabbage/habanero garnish to spice up your meal.

My only disappointment was Pumpkin Soup (not on menu?) - which frankly seemed more like beef noodle soup with only the slightest taste of pumpkin.

I hope some other chowhounds will stop by and report , the owners are very friendly and certainly need the biz. I've never seen the place crowded and I'm concerned it will disappear without a trace, which would be a shame since it's a cut above most of the other caribbean places I've tried in the neighborhood.
