I went to Ilo for lunch last week and ordered soft shell crabs. They were delicious--three to a serving, the tiny sweet ones, sauteed and served with a mound of tartly-dressed soba noodles. Only one problem: One of the crabs had no claws or legs AT ALL.
I'm assuming this is not a sign of a bad (as in less-than-fresh) crab because it tasted fine and I didn't feel sick or anything (maybe I'm just a lucky glutton). But I can't believe anyplace would serve a partial crab, particularly a place with those prices. I took a peek at the bill (my boss was paying) and it was $138 for lunch for two people. We each had an appetizer, main course and dessert, but there was only one glass of wine (literally one glass, not one glass per person). You would think at those prices, a person would be entitled to EXTRA legs!
