I had been to Saloon a few years ago but did not recall the food being so good. From what I understand the menu was revamped in early 2011, clearly with great success. I had the Boeuf Tartare à la française (mixed with Dijon, cornichon, a bit spicy) as a meal – served with a great salad that had corn and edamame beans as well as amazing fries served with Mayo. If you eat nothing else here order the fries! The tartare also come à l’italienne which basically means it is made with truffles. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal – the tartare was some of the best I’ve had in a while!
The service here is very good – attentive, not overbearing and the waiter will offer suggestions when requested. In my case he recommended a nice red wine by the glass which I thoroughly enjoyed with my meal.
In terms of atmosphere, not the best place to eat if you want to have a conversation with your companion since the music here is very loud. If you are here for a casual meal with friends then the atmosphere here is just the thing to get the evening started. The overall vibe is friendly with other customers often saying hello and talking to perfect strangers! Décor is cool, not overly trendy.
I would happily eat here as the food was a terrific surprise!
