Le Cristal Chinois for dinner

Plateaumaman | Feb 24, 201403:24 PM

I've been enjoying dim sum at Le Cristal Chinois for awhile now, drawn in mainly by their turnip dumpling in XO sauce. Decided to try it for a girls' night out for dinner for a change. We were pretty lazy with our ordering, getting the dinner for 6 with peking duck for 7 of us. We took the more obviously North American menu, lots of delicious deep fried dishes like lemon shrimp, fried fish fillet, and General Tao chicken, seafood soup, seafood fried rice and more. It seemed like an easy way to steer away from a lot of shark fin and abalone.

The peking duck was delicious, tender and perfectly crispy skin. The other dishes were all very well prepared too so for $20 or less per person, it was a great deal. We had some wine which was not expensive but we kept knocking it over with the lazy Susan when spinning the dishes around. Not something one usually considers when out at, say, a French bistro. All in all, nice ambiance, good service, super food. They did start vacuuming while we were still there so I guess it's good for an early evening dinner out, vs. a late night hang. But knowing they have to get ready for dim sum in the morning, all is forgiven.
