I just bought this on craigslist and it is no longer made. Anyone have a PDF of the instruction manual, or know what type of fuel to use?
From what I gather, LC made them in 1992 for the Japanese market only. I imagine they didn't sell well, and probably didn't work well, either.
I bought a sterno gel fuel (commonly used for chafing dishes), which should work in the place of the fuel pan. My plan is to heat the cooking surface over a gas hob until it's hot. Then I'll transfer it over to the base, which I'd keep on the dinner table, with the lit sterno maintaining the temperature high enough to cook slices of meat and vegetables.
If I had to guess, I would imagine the sterno fails to keep the iron cooking surface hot enough to make this item functional, hence its brief life on the consumer market.
Any experience with this or similar items would be appreciated.
