On a recommendation from my neigbor, we went over to check this place out for lunch on Wednesday, they have a lunch buffet (which is normally a bad sign), but we were committed to the process.
Now, if you are familiar with the area it is by the dinner theatre on El Camino Real in a weird strip mall. The place does NOT look like a food serving establishment at all - neon signs for notary, tax prep, video transfer, and also Lunch Buffet. ok.....
We walked in and the buffet and tables are in the back past what is a cool little grocery store selling Indian spices condiments and staples, along with frozen foods, and a large selection of what I assume are Bollywood DVDs. Way in the back there are some fast food restaurant type booths and the buffet. Everything on the buffet was fresh and good, there was rice, salad, pickles, chutneys, raita (2 kinds) papadums, naan, and main dishes both of the meat (chicken & lamb) or veg variety.
The food was spectacular, the tandoori chicken was really really good, the curry chicken and lamb were pretty good, the lime pickle made my day - I love that stuff. The samosas were so-so according to my hubby (for a potato ball I would rather have the cuban restaurant variety) but the vegetable dishes were also good. Plus mango lassi included to quell the heat. Oh, and did I mention the TVs playing weird videos that were part hip-hop and part traditional Indian sounding?
An unbelievable/surreal experience, and we will return for the food. They also have a full menu in addition to the buffet lunch, plus lots of interesting looking snack/sweet things in the case.
Oh, and if you haven't had your taxes done yet I am sure they can set you up.....
