late night at stella - a good franklin alternative

rebs | Oct 3, 2005 12:15 PM

like the franklin, stella serves food until 1:30 am. i've been there twice for the late night menu and both times left very happy. their late-night menu is basically a scaled down version of their regular menu. a good selection of apps, 3 pizzas, 3 pastas (also available as half orders), a pork milanese, and 3 desserts. we had the crudo misto (salmon & tuna) and the proscuitto & melon app, then shared the pork milanese. everything was fresh, simply prepared and delicious.

the franklin is great and still one of my faves, but it was nice to not have to wait for a table at an already crowded bar or scream over the table at each other to talk. also, for some reason i feel like i have to order a full meal at the franklin where at stella i can just order a pizza or half order of pasta, which is what i'm usually in the mood for at that hour anyway. there's plenty of parking on washington st. also, which is an added plus.

it was nearly empty on friday at midnight (i guess that would technically be saturday) so i guess the late-night thing hasn't caught on yet.

i just thought i'd share for those of you, like myself, are on the never ending search for late-night dining options.
