Lard - mold question

I rendered some lard the weekend before turkey day using AB's method. Since then it has been sitting in my fridge waiting for me to get to a tamale project that I never did. I haven't been that worried about it because he said it would keep about 4 weeks in there and indefinitely in the freezer. Well, I got it out tonight to move it to the freezer and I'm not sure if the stuff on top is mold. I don't think so but hope someone here has more experience with that. The stuff in question is all white, not fuzzy but around the edge of the bowl it's like little dots. It sort of looks chalky and when I went to scrape it off it seemed to go kinda deep. Maybe it just got a little dried out? Think it's safe, will taste fine or should I start over? Maybe I didn't do a thorough enough job rendering? Thanks for any ideas / advice.
