Restaurants & Bars 1

Five Lakes Grill, Milford, MI

Popped in for a little grub the other night. Food was commendable. Started with the "Three Crostinis," one each with tomato, caramelized onions and 'shrooms. Then wifey had the asparagus risotto, in which both the asparagus and rice were done perfectly. I had the shrimp-and-chorizo over saffron rice, which was seasoned just right -- not too spicy, and accompanied with roasted peppers. Everything about the food was done at a very high skill level.
Okay, that's the good news. They have some staffing issues to work out. We sat at the bar, and our bartender was also responsible for serving dishes and opening wine for those at the tables, which meant she was hardly ever around when we needed something. Poor girl was worn to a nub, and it wasn't even eight o'clock. One time, the GM went behind the bar to check on the till and I said, excuse me, can we get some service, and he pointed at the bartender (who was opening a bottle of wine at a table) and said she'll help you as he ran from the bar. He made it plain that he wanted nothing to do with us. (Oooh, those icky CUSTOMERS!)
Until they hire a few more people, and until that GM gets a customer service transplant, we're not going back, no matter how good the food.
