Lake Pavillion And Happy Garden

budcar | Mar 26, 201712:02 PM

Passed by Lake Pavillion, the dim sum emporium on MainStreet and the LIE and found it boarded up due to a fire I was told by a waiter at Happy Garden, across the street which was a gross disappointment, to me, after three episodes of pleasurable dining as a good Cantonese restaurant formerly known as East West , across from the aforementioned Lake Pavillion.

Happy Garden was crowded at lunchtime last Saturday with screaming kids and mostly Chinese adults.
The winter melon soup had little flavor; the steak in black pepper sauce, too, was mildly flavored, the chicken in cumin sauce had absolutely no flavor despite a bright yellow color. Only the Peking pork chops had some taste. What was grossly missing from all the others was a dose of proper flavor. It was as though although the clientele were predominately Asian, the place was catering to the American palate.
