The hearty endorsements of Dizz's made us call for reservations but they said we'd have to wait and it was busy.
So we drove up the coast to Gulfsteam in Newport Beach for their sensational beef ribs (more like candied beef cubes).
The highlight of the meal was the tuna tartare appetizer. It was a mound of chopped premium sushi grade tuna, avacado, mango, shrimp, cilantro, macadamia nuts and sesame seed garnish. You ate it as a dip, with huge tortilla chips.
Refreshing, light and full of flavor this was devoured instantly and has put us in the mood for one of your suggetions, Roy's in Newport Beach.
We went to the one in Maui years ago but haven't been to one on the mainland (Maui had these incredible chicken skewers...).
Is the food really that good? What should we order? Can an Atkin's devotee enjoy a good meal there?
