I have posted about this place before, but as I went for a meal there last night and it was as good as before if not better, I thought it was worth flagging up.
This is a new -ish French Bistro on Newbury St ( just off Carnaby St ) and it has been receiving plaudits aplenty from friends of mine and the food critics alike. Mascheler was sitting in there last night, so I guess it is going to be in the Evening Standard next Tuesday.
The food is predominantly from South West France. We had snails to begin with and a scallop salad followed by lavender Lamb and Onglet to follow. The ingredients they use nearly all come from Borough market and are wonderfully prepared.
The service is excellent and the prices are incredibly reasonable. The wine list keeps away from Burgundys and Bordeaux and we had a bottle of marcillac at a mere £20.
We bundled up without a reservation and were lucky enough to get a table, but by the time we left they hadn't a seat in the house. The owner was saying that since they got a mention in the Indy and in Time Out, they have been chocker.
Anyway, I can not remember having such a pleasant dining experience for a long long time, so I really recommend it
