LA (Santa Monica, Venice) dining

phyllis | Jun 11, 199909:52 AM     1

Just returned from a lovely trip to LA. Had 2
outstanding meals in Venice and I highly recommend
these two places: James' Beach on Venice Blvd. and
Joe's Restaurant on Abbot Kinney Blvd. They are both
worth the drive to Venice. Make reservations at Joe's
since it was just written up again in LA Times as one
of the best retaurants in LA. It's simply fabulous and
a great buy at $30 for 4 delicious courses of carefully
prepared, inventive and very fresh food.
James Beach is more low key but excellent. Emphasis
here on well prepared more humble food. Hope you will
try it if you travel out that way.
