Curious to know other people’s experience of making reservations at La Pineta in Marina di Bibbona. Tried unsuccessfully to make a reservation for 2, and while the restaurant offered to put me on a waiting list, I couldn’t quite shake a nagging feeling I was being denied the opportunity to book ahead when I called because (a) we are only 2 people and (b) I don’t sound like a native-born Italian when I speak Italian.
Totally plausible the day I requested is booked solid. I understand this is an internationally known Michelin star restaurant in a prime waterview location, and I was asking for a Sunday lunch (holiday weekend to boot). But some odd turns in the response to my request conveyed an impression that the restaurant either resists parties of 2 on a prime Sunday, or prefers not to host non-Italians. Worried that even if a table falls open, it won’t be an attractive table (I know nothing of the layout of the restaurant). Could simply be my imagination, and have heard lovely things about La Pineta so I am not trying to cast aspersions on a restaurant I have never tried, but would appreciate hearing from others about their experiences of this restaurant when it comes to welcoming non-Italian twosomes, since this is a special occasion lunch and would like the mood to be perfect.
