La Maison du Couscous

Visited La Maison du Couscous last night and had a fantastic meal. We started off with Meslala which is green olives with olive oil and parsley and zaalouk, deliciuous eggplant with lemon juice and olive oil ans spices, and bakoula, cold spinach with lemon juice and olives. All appetizers were superb, fresh tasty home cooked. We than has two different Tangines. I had the lamb shank w/ peas and artichokes. Also superb, well balanced extremely tasty. My girlfriend had the tajine tafrawatt, a slow cooked thick vegetarian tangine. Also great.

This is truly a lovely place to eat and sip tea. The food is lovingly prepared by "grandma's" in the french Morrocan style. Everything I ate was pain stakingly well balanced and Soulfully prepared with a love of family and food. And the menu is shockingly cheap compared to the quality and cooking. Maybe the best deal in NYC. It's also BYO.

This is a "must try"
