A La Carte in Berkeley is open again

Jill Cornwell | Feb 12, 200211:54 AM

A La Carte, on Dwight Way in Berkeley (around the corner from Breads of India) has been closed for 3 months or so while major foundation work was done. I'm thrilled to report that it's open again, as it's my neighborhood joint and I've missed it - same owners, new menu.

If you don't know the restaurant, you really should check it out - it has the most charming and romantic interior around, and none of that changed with the construction. Fireplace in the corner, cozy booths - and good food. These owners have been in for at least 2 years now. They have returned the macaroni and cheese with black-eyed pea salad and greens to the menu (my favorite), and now serve pork loin, blackened salmon, a tri-tip... I'm running out of memory now, as I haven't eaten from this menu yet, just noticed the menu posted on my way to the mailbox and wanted to get the word out.
