So after debating between Literati and Toast for a noon-ish brunch, we decided on trying the La Brea Bakery (I have been to Campanile for dinner before, but that's it).
We had the brioche, farmer's torte (something like that, forget the name), the fake oreo thing, the turkey and avacado sandwich, and the ginger chew (and I took home a loaf of country white). Came to a bit under $20 for the lot, plus coffee.
Just wanted to give a positive review, especially the farmer's tart. Haven't been to a good east coast style bakery in quite some time. Big fan.
The farmer's tart was basically a fallen souffle, and the brioche reminded me of the stuff I got when I first discovered it back east.
I found it almost exactly comparable to hi-rise bakery in Cambridge, MA, minus the hot sandwiches, for anyone that can compare.
Sorry for the ramble.
