Checked out the recently opened La Biblioteca de Tacos (new taco place from the people behind Pampano and Pampano Taqueria). It's located in the basement of Zengo on 3rd and 40th street (enter the restaurant, make a left past 2 huge booths and go downstairs and order at the bar). a few of the guys from Pampano Taqueria are working there.
Basically, it's Pampano Taqueria minus a few things and for a tiny bit more money. They don't offer burritos, quesadillas or tortas or the combo platter like they do at Pampano Taqueria. You get three tacos for $9 or $10, depending on what you order ($9 for chicken, pork or vegetable, $10 for mahi mahi, meat or duck). only thing is that you have to order 3 of one kind of taco. cheese or guacamole on the tacos is $1 extra. the chicken taco was very good, good flavor, pieces of skin inside; carne asada was also very good. the mahi mahi was good, not great, with a too creamy slaw on top. recipes are the same as those at the taqueria but unfortunately, they don't have the camaron or alambre tacos that they have at pampano taqueria. portions were a little small but maybe they'll change it up.
they also offer sides and drinks but i didn't get either. oh, and chips cost $1 even though they are free at pampano taqueria.
one other thing: no salsa bar like at pampano taqueria, which is one of the best things about the place. they do give you a little cup of salsa roja and a little cup of salsa verde.
definitely a huge huge plus for the area. i see myself going back frequently but i'm hoping they add the burritos and tortas.
