La Belle Vie, Stillwater

We are new to the "fine dining." :-) Was this dining experience acceptable?

Reservations at 9:15 pm on a Friday night. One couple ahead of us had res for 8:30; they got seated at 9:35. We were all offered drinks while we waited. No waiting area to speak of -- it was suggested when we arrived at 9:05, that we should take a walk because they were "running behind." Okay, they didn't say "take a walk" but since there were only two occupied chairs in the tiny entry, they seemed to be suggesting that we come back later.

We were seated at 9:50. The host told us he would take care of the starters and first course. Fine.

Our waiter was very nice. Service was fine until the entree arrived -- one entree. My husband's salmon had been delayed. Waiter then returned with the wrong entree for him, said cost would be covered, we were too tired to tell him it was the wrong food.

Bill finally comes and the starters and first course items were on it.

Again we were too tired to complain, so we paid and left. Our waiter was so nice, we were afraid to hurt his feelings after his talk of the La Belle Vie emphasis on service and consistency... Blah, blah...

So. Is this the typical fine dining experience?
