Hi fellow food people.
I am traveling to Japan for the first time in October - I have spent hours researching where to eat and I believe we are all set in Tokyo - having selcted Hashiguchi for sushi and Seiko for tempura. We have 3 nights in Kyoto, and are interested in Kaiseki for one evening. We attempted to get into Soujikii Nakahigshii thru Amex platinum card but were turned away as they only take reservations now from previous guests.
Can anyone recommend your favourite places in Kyoto for kaiseki dinner - we are OK spending 30,000 yen per person, but not much more and we are looking for a fun evening, not so terribly formal, an authentic experience, wonderful locally sourced food etc. One of our group is less adventurous than the rest, but will go along for the ride.
Also, looking for some opinions on buddhist cuisine - Ajiro vs Shigetsu. Or anywhere else that you can recommend!
So appreciate your help! Thank you!
