I speak, of course, of the famous Krups low-end coffee grinder, currently sold as model F203, which is near-universally recommended as a spice grinder: http://www.amazon.com/203-42-Electric...
How long has your grinder lasted? Mine had a bad habit of sneaking into the sink after use, occasionally got too much water and eventually died after three years or so. I just received my second one and I hope to do better.
How do you clean your grinder? I'm thinking in particular of removing persistent odors like toasted cumin, residue from oily spices like cloves, persistent coloring from turmeric, etc. How wet do you allow the cloth you use to wipe it down to get? Any special soaps or other additives which help remove odors or absorb oils? I know that using rice helps -- is there something better that you use?
Any other advice? I found that the blades aren't tough enough to break up a whole nutmeg nut. What else is too tough for the Krups?
