I've developed an addiction to the spicy tofu soup found at Korean restaurants. (I think it's called Soon Dobu, or Tofu Chi Ghe--it appears under different names/spelling at different restaurants).
Usually it consists of tofu, beef (or seafood), onions zucchini and a red, spicy soup.
So far, my favorite is Sahnmaru (43rd and Telegraph, Oakland). It seems richer and more flavorful than the other versions I have tried. but I just tried it at Pyung Chang Tofu House (47th and Telegraph)
My old favorite used to be Ohgane (39th and Broadway) but after getting one particularly bland batch, I haven't been back.
I'd love other suggestions of places I can get this delicious soup in the East Bay, preferably Oakland. Any information on what it's actually called (and how it's made/recipes!) would be much appreciated.
