So Korean BBQ is by the same folks as Kagiya. I have never been a fan of kogiya so I was quite pleasantly surprised at how good SO is. I have been 4 times.

Their Banchan selection is fantastic. You get 8 or 10 items, plus steamed egg and a soy & doenjang soybean & pork jigae. The egg is extremely good if sometimes a little undersalted. The doenjang jigae is wan and thin, not worth the space in your stomach. The banchan are uniformly good ranging from standard kimchee to bean sprouts to wasabli marinated daikon slices to things like peppers with dried anchovy and a glass noodle salad that was superb to a marinated beef jerky. If you run out they will give you unlimited refills but sometimes they will bring something new.

There is a $12.99 lunch special which includes a noodle, one meat and banchan but I have always gone with the all you can eat. The $29 b course has seafood, (squid, surprisingly good shrimp in the shell, octopus) galbi patty, and 3 kinds of intestine. The a course is mostly variants of pork belly and bulgoggi and a few chicken dishes. The brisket and thin sliced pork belly are superb, the sam guy sal (three layered pork belly) comes in a choice of marinades and is quite good. The beef bulgogi is extremely good. But the real star of the BBQ is the beef abomesum, a type of intestine. It is fatty, rich and they cook it til it is crispy which is how I like it.

They have a nice selection of drinks: craft beers, soju and soju cocktails, and they will make iced boricha on request. Super friendly service.

There are three "tasting sets' which I want to go back and try as well as ala carte BBQ selections.

Their Banchan are probably the best around (oegadjib gives them a good run for the money) and their meats are top notch. It's worth a long drive to get there when work doesn't have me in the neighborhood.
