Komi - report and question

Geoff | May 10, 2004 09:52 AM

My wife and I had a lovely dinner at Komi on Friday evening - our first chance to eat there. We ate early; 6:30 rezzie. Place was basically full and hopping long before we left at 8:15.

The meal: total of 4 apps, 1 entree, two glasses of wine, one large bottle of sparkling water, two coffees, no dessert.

Won't go into lots of detail, but: Apps: asparagus; cuttlefish w/a squash blossom fritter; crab and avocado on grapefruit, one more for my wife that i just can't remember (hey, it's monday). Entree: an australian fish similar to "sea bass" on veggies. Wine: a french viognier and a Hop Kiln (Sonoma) chardonnay. large pot french press coffee. Fish entree was small, almost same size as the apps.

Service: very nice, interestingly at times a little too attentive. back off just a little, please.

Overall, had an excellent meal, loved the space, would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

QUESTION: tab before tip: $90. Felt at the time that price was high, but not egregiously so, for the actual amount of food. Based on what you've read here, what do you think?
