Todd Kliman of the Washingtonian Magazine was the last of the local food media to succumb to the the Eric Ripert marketing machine. Over a half dozen pages in this months issue, he parrots the Ripert public relations machine's talking points on how the brilliant chef can bring hints of his greatness to restaurants at the Ritz-Carlton from the Cayman Islands to Washington DC. The secret? Write out the instructions to every dish in perfect detail!
Please. What Kliman should have done is eat a meal at the Westend Bistro instead of fawn all over his subject. Then he would have realized the fallacy of the hypothesis and called him out for what it is...a simple money grab.
