Need help! KitchenAid mixers heavy duty watt 325 vs professional 5 watt 350

SpicyInSeattle | Oct 16, 201512:05 PM     3

My cousin recently moved out of town and gifted me her professional 5 watt 350 KitchenAid mixer model# ksm50p0b (she only used it once in 6yrs :/ ) I'm lucky enough to already own a heavy duty watt 325 mixer model # k5sswh. I need to get rid of one. But I don't know which one. My cousin's mixer didn't get a lot of use and I'm concerned that it may need to be re-oiled. I turned it on to check and it didn't sound as smooth as my current mixer. I don't know how to re-oil a mixer and I'm nervous at trying. I'm also concerned because I remember hearing that the newer mixers tend to break down faster than the older versions due to the manufacturing being moved over seas and a decline in quality. I know this a first world problem but I don't want to have to repurchase a mixer if one ever fails but I can't hold on to both of them. So I need some sound advice as to which is most like to die and then I can pass it on.

Here's some info as to usage of the mixer I currently own. I'm a everyday cook. We (me&husband) don't eat out often maybe once a week. I use my mixer for bread, pizza dough, marshmallows, and cookies. I'll make dessert 1X a week and bread/pizza dough 2X a month. With holidays coming up I expect more than normal usage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
