Kiriko on Sawtelle

Alice | Jan 17, 2004 10:42 PM

Went to Kiriko after recommendations through this board. Had the duck confit salad (the duck was rather dry and there wasn't anything particularly special about the salad - the apples were a little soggy), also had the uni and scallop chawanmushi (egg custard dish - it was good but i found that those ingredients didn't all blend well together). Next we had the spicy tuna roll, which was mediocre. The best part was the sushi - the albacore was very very fresh. The yellowtail from japan was pretty good as well. We also tried the truffles ice cream (which I really didn't like, but my boyfriend did) and the chai ice cream which was yummy. It was an interesting experience, which left us feeling a little unsatisfied. Maybe the omakase is better =)
