Kirby's Creekside.......One of our faves in Nevada City...But....

We have dined here many times in the past. A destination dining experience. Reservations were easy to come by calling after five for 7:30. Upon our arrival we were asked either deck or dining room. We opted for the deck, usually it is too packed to sit out there. Absolutely beautiful. Creek going by and a perfect picture.

it did not stay perfect for long. After witnessing Kirby have some service dilema We were seated outside.
Our server asked if we would like drinks. My wife ordered wine. The wine she ordered was not available. A suggestion from Kirby was offered instead. The Server poured the wine from about 10 iinches from the glass left on the table. it was a chqap bottle available anywhere. my wife did not accept this wine. After some time Kirby reccomended another and was acceptable, but the server did not pour it at the table.

We ordered our meals. While we were waiting we noticed all the other diners were very dissatisfied with their dinners, some sending it back more than once. Other tables swapped dishes as they were recieved.

We went through soup and salad without bread. the soup was wonderful. Portabella mushroom was incredible. We shared a house salad. With pear vinagrette dressing. the salad we got had a creamy dressing and all the ingredients, walnuts, blue cheese etc. but the dressing was creamy. Not the balsamic, pear dressing I had come to expect.

Finally we got some bread. Not the usual warm loaf we have had before, but a semi-warm loaf. One of the severs dropped our butter on the floor. replaced, it was great bread.

Our entrees were incredible. I had the Pork tenderloin. I love this dish. Butr the potatoes were cold and the veggies were cold. Same with Debbie's leg of lamb. the food was great but the service was slow on everything. No water. slow drinks.
No water.

All of the servers (it seemed) were all really young girls. Not their fault but why were they in a fine dining place. It seemed as if our server was on her first day. the server that we assumes was the mananger put out fires all night long.

Hopefully this is a abnormality, rather than the rule and we will return. But if it is like this again there is no chance of us returning.
