Kingcake (or Galette des rois)

Nazerac | Jan 9, 200209:54 AM

Hello fellow hounders, this past Sunday marked the beginning of the Mardi Gras season, time to indulge in King Cakes (if you're from Louisiana) or Galette des rois (if you're French). Does anyone know if one can find any of these pastries in Chicago? I doubt that one can find the king cake, but what about the Galette des rois, the French version of the kingcake. I know that La Madeleine

Finally, I know that I may end up ordering some kingcake from NO, but assuming I want to try to make my own, do you think that it would be easy to find purple, yellow and green sugar for the topping at a Jewel/Dominick/Treasure Island?

-Thanks in advance
