I'm not turning up any Chowhound info on this Albany fusion bistro.
I only noticed it for the first time on July 4th because it was, it seemed, the ONLY restaurant open that day, it had a sign out on the sidewalk and Albany was deserted. Unfortunately, I had just eaten at Oscar's. Seems it is in one of those cursed restaurant locations.
Anyway I'm thinking of maybe trying it out this week, maybe tonight. If I don't go for the deal, does anyone have any recs or things to avoid?
It really looks lovely. Was going to go yesterday and got there too early. Seems like they also have lunch and weekend brunch.
Links from Chron and EBE seem to indicate it can be great but there is some uneveness.
Hmmm ... lunch has a hamburger with green goddess sauce, can't remember the last time I've seen green goddess anything on a menu.
In a strange way ceasar salad with black sesame seams appealing. There seems to be some less fusion dishes like lamb shank and lemony roast chicken.
But there are some intruiguing combinations:
FLAP MEAT (in clay pot) With spring onion, wild mushroom, new potato, iceberg lettuce, baby carrots and star anise sauce
BAKED OYSTERS With chorizo, sweet pepper, cilantro, scallion
SOFTSHELL CRAB Spicy peanut sauce
GRAVLAX With pickled onion, avocado, taro root chip, and clover sprout
SEA AND AIR Seared duck breast (medium-rare), with prawn, lobster, scallop, mango, tomato, and avocado
Ok, I won't eat duck, but fnnier than surf and turf.
There's also some sort of appetizer tasting thing wher you get eight bites of the Chef's choice.
Grey Goose Vodka, fresh ginger, fresh lime juice, cactus agave syrup, house candied ginger, sugar rim, with a splash of sparkling wine
Ginger gelato for dessert?
