King Georges (Perrier/LBF Documentary)

agozoic | Mar 20, 2016 07:17 AM

I watched "King Georges" off Amazon last night ($6.99 rental) and it's an entertaining 75 minutes. I wouldn't say it's very insightful as to why the end of the line had finally come for LBF other than blaming changing tastes, but it's fun watching all of the behind the scenes action. There's also a scene where the kitchen is asked to prepare a "lightly seared" steak tartare and one of the chefs offers to make a hamburger. We walked by 1523 Walnut last week this week and the paneling and plants from its time as Avance have been removed. I've heard its becoming a Warby-Parker store.

In what is a truly modern sign of a company's death, the restaurant's
website now redirects to pornography. Fin indeed!
