KFC Pot Pie= Save your money

I'm going to preface this by stating that I eat fast food only about once every year or so and sadly this year's splurge went to KFC for their chicken pot pie $5 combo.

I had once eaten a KFC chicken pot pie back in 2004 or so and I remember truly enjoying it. It was pretty much the ultimate pot pie at the time with a great flaky crust both on top and inside along with a lovely traditional filling like you'd expect. This was the memory I have kept with me over the past 13 or so years. For some reason lately I have been craving that pot pie that I remembered so fondly so I decided today to give in and buy one to have that great once a decade indulgence.

What a disappointment and terrible decision this was! Goodness knows why they changed their recipe and style but someone in the tasting department should have told them to abort the mission before it ever made it to mainstream production. What in God's name is that fake butter funk in the crust and why is there no crust inside anymore? Everyone knows that a proper pot pie is self-contained and only needs a tin for support. The flavors in the filling were okay but the sauce wasn't great and the filling was actually far skimpier than I remembered. I know I don't need a 4,000 calorie diabetes bomb for lunch but even at 1250 calories it should taste better than this.

On a side note, I don't drink soda so I requested water instead. I didn't even get a bottle, I got a tap water in a cup which ironically I couldn't even drink because there's a boil water advisory locally and I don't trust that they have boiled the water in their machines so I literally spent $5 and change for a barely edible chemical fest of a pot pie and a tiny cookie. KFC should be ashamed to serve such overpriced swill.

Bottom line: Save your hard-earned money and put it towards something else. The chicken pot pie is a lie.
