Kenwood Classic Chef Mixer/ Chef Major versus Kitchen Aid PRO-Line Mixer

talee | Jan 24, 201503:01 PM

Hello again!
So now I am replacing my old Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I am considering the Kitchen Aid PRO 6500 stand mixer. I recently took a cooking class and had the opportunity to use the Kenwood Classic Chef mixer. OMG!!! it was awesome. Could tell the quality of the attachments, heavy. I did some research on the different styles and was sold on the Chef Titanium, but sadly, it is not sold in the U.S. I recently discovered the Kenwood Chef Major (KMM020) I imagine the cons of this mixer would be if it needed repairs one would have to send it back to the Kenwood company.

I've read the good and bad reviews on the Kitchen Aid, from the motor being overwhelmingly loud, work bowl is heavy, the metal band around the work bowl is hard to clean, to the paddle not mixing thoroughly. Kitchen Aid mixers have stood the test of time though.

Sur la Table is the only store in my neck of the woods that sells the Kenwood. I've talked to them and they have nothing but glowing reports regarding this mixer, but I'd like to hear REAL reviews from the ChowHound community.

I'm excited to read what everyone thinks.
