Off to the airport from our home away from home https://www.chowhound.com/post/lucys-... in plenty of time to check-in, I got a text en route alerting us to a two-hour departure time delay. Oh well, we couldn't turn back now. The silver lining is that we now had time to check out the PDX airport location of Kenny & Zuke's Deli.

We shared the pastrami on rye with Russian dressing, $15. The pastrami was steamed to tenderness even though quite lean and was not stringy. Oddly, the pastrami showed little smoke or salting. Not really much in the way of any distinguishing characteristics, but I'm glad to have tried it and checked it off my lifetime pastrami experiences.

I also tried a local ginger ale (non-alcoholic) made by Hotlips. It was kind of middle of the road. We meant to try the ice cream sandwiches by Ruby Jewel sold by the deli, but were too stuffed and will have to pick it up another visit.

The two-hour delay for our return to SFO improved to only 1.5 hours behind schedule. Once the pianist arrived to entertain us, I have to say that this was the most civilized airport wait ever.

Thank you Portland for feeding us so well. This one is the last leg of the trip report of our August visit. It's taken me longer to type them all up than it did to consume them!
