Kaz'z Sushi Bistro

Pappy | Sep 20, 2002 02:42 PM

If you work downtown, go out of your way to enjoy lunch here.

They have lots of specials, and the lunch menu offers a number of pre-assembled plates, bento(?) boxes and platters. There is also a list of daily specials, small plates, and sushi offerings. The biggest downside is that the bar only has 5-6 seats.

I'm stuck in a little rut, but what a wonderful rut it is. Start with the miso soup (included in most offerings). While I'm usually not a big fan, I have to say that I found myself digging for every last drop of Kaz's version. Then order a serving of their cold seaweed salad. A wonderful toss of seaweed, a little miso, sesame oil, soy, and other ingredients I'm sure, that combine for a perfectly balanced and perfectly delightful dish ($4.50). Then I usually have the 003 plate of assorted sushi including salmon, tuna, clam, shrimp, sea urchin and a few others ($14.50). Impeccably fresh, nicely portioned, and efficiently served. Perfect.

Go early, the place fills up shortly after noon.
