Kayla's Cafe on the S.A. Riverwalk

San Antonio's best kept secret? Kayla's Cafe. It was so good we ate there 3 nights in one week. We ordered the "special" each night and my favorite was their version of Beef Wellington. It was a bacon wrapped beef tenderloin with a red wine mushroom reduction sauce. The plate was beautifully prepared with artichoke mashed potatoes, grilled zuchini and a puff pastry. We could cut the steaks with our fork, it was so tender. Another night we had a good size piece of salmon with a mild creamy dill sauce and the third night we tried the blackened Red Snapper. Honestly our meals were delicious every night.
This place is in the same building with The Havana Riverwalk Inn and Cigar Bar. It's on the north end of the downtown riverwalk. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I totally recommend trying it. I think they have a good size lunch crowd, but for dinner it was not that busy. We almost didn't go in the first time because no one else was there when we first walked in. But, I'm glad we did. The dinner menu runs from around $15 to $30. The specials were in the $20-$25 price range. The address for the Hotel is 1015 Navarro St. and the restaurant is right behind it. It's on the side street of the Channel 4 TV station which faces St Mary's. I hope you can find it.....
