Why isn't this place better known? I had a fabulous dinner here tonight, with every component at least very good: fried chicken; macaroni and cheese; collard greens; corn bread; and bread poudding. Other standbys are catfish, pork chops, all kinds of gravy dinners (smothered chicken & pork chops, meatloaf and oxtails). Kathy and family are from Louisiana, so the menu also includes etouffes, creole dishes, etc.
Service is warm and nurturing, prices are a little higher than the usual soul food, but you can stuff yourself for $15-$20. Kathy's is an institution, and most of the customers are regulars.
6407 Mountain Vista, in Henderson, across from Ethel M's. It's a ten or fifteen minute drive from the Strip, and well worth it.
