Kasadela for great Izakaya and a zen vibe

Made a mental note to check out this little E Village gem based on a Nina W's recommendation many months ago.
Kasadela is a tiny little Izakaya spot on C, just west of 11th. Ive been told the literal translation of Izakaya is "bar food". To clarify, the menu is broken down into 4 or 5 categories including salads, fried foods, meats, soups and sakes. Im definitely leaving a category or two out. Think of it as Japanese tapas. Nothing on the menu is over $10.

I'm no expert in Izakaya but Ive been to Sakagaru too many times to count. That said, my radar for deliciousness works well and this place is a keeper.

Here's what we tried.
Kinpira w/sesame - Owner comped us this tasty bowl of
Shredded Burdock that had a mild kick to it.
Fried Tofu - Nice firm cubes of tofu in a warm broth with shredded roots/citrus(?) on top.
Watercress Salad - Amazingly fresh and lively watercress in a rich sesame sauce.
Tori Kawa - Best dish of the night. Crispy chicken skin threaded the length of 3 small wood skewers. Dollop of tasty citrus laced salt on the side. Decadent, flavorful, rich = just f'ing perfect.
Miso Marinated Cod - beautiful piece of black cod in a mild miso marinade that had the perfect balance of sweet and salt.
Sakes - individual names slip my mind but the less expensive of the 2 fresh Sakes (w/yeast) is perfect on a warm evening.

If you don't mind sitting at their lovely bar, do so. Be sure to engage the friendly owner (He's Thai and name starts with a "k"), you'll be grateful. His killer black and white photos adorn the walls illustrating his many travels to places like India, Pakistan, China, etc. He's a ny'ers version of a foodie zen master. Plus, he's a longtime Nobu alum who knows his food and sake, is unpretentious and a gracious host.
