Kansas City Prime

Recently we went to a birthday celebration at Kansas City Prime. We have eaten there before but not much in the last few years because of the decline in food quality. They have really hit a new low. They have a new (more expensive) menu with a number of new items. When we arrived they put one bread basket on the table for eight people and one small plate of butter. The basket remained empty for a while with people coming and going before we finally asked for more. The appetizers were very expensive, in the $10-14 range. Several of our party ordered the deep fried crab pockets which were ok but served with a peanut dip that was so hot it was inedible and we like spicy. The ravoli served in a cream sauce didn't taste homemade. Several people had the lobster bisque which they thought tasted like tomato soup. A few people ordered steak which was just fair. The entree salad ($23) came with three large shrimp, a few chunks of old tasting salmon and a few flakes of crab over spongy greens. The dressing was a "thousand island type" which was so bad that I ate the salad plain. The tuna served rare over mashed potatoes was not good quality. We had to ask for water, new setups and the final insult was when they brought out my tea but no hot water. Ten minutes went by before I could get someones attention. We used to really enjoy KC prime. Its a shame that they seem to have lost focus of the basics. Needless to say, we won't return.
