I've been checking out some of Jonathan Kauffman's top ten dishes of '07, and made my way to Julia's on NE 65th St. I had to try the Ayam Goreng Kremes (fried chicken w/crispies). It was a winner! A whole Cornish game hen was braised, then battered and fried to a golden crispiness. On top were crispies made of chicken juices and flour fried crisp - tasted like the best chicken skin cracklin's. They brought three sauces with it. For me a mixture of the sweet chili sauce and the kechop manis was perfect. It was a nice size for two people to share along with some rice and a salad or veg.
I will for sure be back there.
