JR's BBQ update

Tom Richardson | Sep 14, 2004 04:48 PM

Just ate a pork shoulder sandwich from JR's on La Cienega and was disappointed. It was sliced very thin like deli meat and wasn't the pulled/shredded texture that it should be. The flavor was a little off too, like it was warmed over meat from yesterday. A couple months back I had the hot links there and loved them. At this point I'm not sure if I should return. The staff is great but I'm starting to question the quality. I've tried a handful of BBQ joints since moving to LA three years ago and nothing impresses me, including Woody's and Tasty Q. I want fall apart tender, smoky bbq. What's the best LA has to offer?
