Joy Luck Place - Cupertino (Follow up)

Yimster's post about Louie's California Chinese prompts me to post this brief follow-up on Joy Luck Place for Dim Sum.

As many may remember, this was the battlefield for the second Dim Sum competition. I wasn't overwhelmed with good feelings of Joy and Luck attending the first visit, but since I work about 10 minutes away, I have been back twice for lunch during weekdays.

I have decided that Joy Luck Place is a mighty fine Dim Sum Tea House. Yimster reports and asks (regarding Louie's California Chinese) "A member of the wait staff offer to change our plates for clean plates. We only had one dish left so I did not change. When was the last time you got a change without asking for it." Well, my answer is Wednesday at Joy Luck! The staff is first rate, wearing tuxedos even in the middle of the week.

I must report that I am especially fond of the steamed shrimp dumplings, the shrimp is crunchy and there is a hint of ginger. Delicious. I must also admit that I have become very very fond of fried taro root dumplings, and Joy Luck done a fantastic job on their version with the outside being crunchy with no grease, and the inside being flavorful and savory.

I guess this place grows on you. I like it. It gives me Joy.

(Joy Luck is at 10911 N. Wolfe Road in the Ranch 99 mall)
