It's been a while since I stopped by Jollibee's (like the fried chicken and mango pie), so tried it again last week. I was curious to see if there'd been any changes since the outcropping of new Filipino eateries in town. The menu has been expanded to include more breakfast items and sweet snacks. Now you can get garlic rice with various meats (e.g., tocino) and arroz caldo.
The arroz caldo is quite good. A loose style of rice porridge, the broth is very chicken-y with a carmelized onion flavor and seems to have no boost from MSG. The serving also includes two slices of hard cooked egg, three poached wing joints, and is topped with a potent quantity of fried garlic bits. A good deal for $3.85, including tax.
