Went for dinner on Tuesday and had a good experience, but wouldn't go back until they've been open longer and ironed out the service kinks.
Food: Excellent pork soup dumplings. Super-thin skin with thick, gingery broth inside. 1 order (#8) for the two of us. Would probably get twice the amount next time. Also ordered roast pork and crab dumplings, but the waitress didn't understand any English, and even though I pointed to the Chinese characters on the menu she still had trouble copying them down, so I think we wound up being served something else -- more like a soup with spinach-filled wontons in a very cilantro-y broth. Not bad, but not great either. Got Yellow Fish fingers -- greasy, mushy blobs of ground fish with breading, served in a pile that sat between the fish head and its tail. Just plain awful. The best thing we ate was the shredded pork and bean curd with jalapenos. Great combo of textures and flavors. The sauce was very light, the peppers gave it some heat, but were not overwhelming. If I crave anything from this meal down the road, it will be this.
Service: 2 waitresses asked us what we wanted to drink AS we were being seated. Then they disappeared forever. Then came back for our order, but communication was tough with the language barrier. But everyone smiled and laughed a lot and the water was constantly refilled. So at least they were trying. But as someone who's unfamiliar with most of the menu items, I would have liked to ask more questions and maybe could have experienced a really great meal, but I still had a good meal, and might return at some point.
