This place looks very clean and very trendy. Lots of room to sit, particularly upstairs. This is the new Taiwanese Restaurant.
I tried this for the first time this past weekend. The service was terrible, slow, and inattentive. However, I attribute this to green-ness of lack of waitstaff than an attitude problem... unlike at Hing Lung where's its an attitude problem. That said, I have a high tolerance for lousy service.
Liang Ban Cucumbers ... the cucumbers soaked in vinegar and sugar: this was good.
Roast Goose Noodles. The noodles were soft and limp, the goose was tender but there's wasn't much of it, and the soup was completely flat.
Zha Jiang Mein. Noodle texture was good and al dente, but the sauce was supposedly northern balck style..... at a Taiwanese place?????? The sauce had waaaaaaaay too much flavor, overpowers everything, and the meat inside was very girstly. Yuk.
Green Onion Pancake. Aside from the fact that this wasn't actually Green Onion Pancake but was in fact Zhua Bing ( a close relative ) this was actually very nice, crispy, elastic, and hot. tasty.
We won't be returning here unless the food improves a lot. We passed by Bubble Zone on Clement in the Inner Richmond on the way home and wished we had gone there instead.
