Jimmy's on City island

mamanmidwife | Jun 27, 2005 08:58 AM

My bf and i were returning from the Barclay's golf in westchester heading back to brooklyn and decided to go to City island to get something to eat (and avoid the traffic for a little while). Jimmy's is the last restaurant on the left after turing right off the bridge. Not the prettiest place but I got the fried shrimp and he got the fried scallops each was a very large order (at least 15-20 Large shrimp) with fries a can of beer for me a 16 oz glass of jug wine for him . we took the cardboard trays out to the picnic tables on the pier behind the rest, and joined the rest of the bronxites who had come from the beach or church or whereever to get out of the heat. the breeze from the water was great and looking at the boats was spectacular. tons of kids were feeding the seagulls. Saw others with whole fried fish, steamed crayfish, lobster and clams.

Frying shimp and scallops is not too difficult but these were really done quite well. they had coleslaw which i didn't try and lemon slices, and assorted condiments which you ladled yourself imto little plastic bowls.

a really nice break and it only cost $25 for the 2 of us.
