Add another restaurant to jfood’s “A” list, Coromandel in SONO. The jfoods went with some friends and ordered a bunch of items, shared them and he will go on the record that this is place with great food and great service for a reasonable price. The only downside was they did not have the AC on and it was hot in the restaurant and add that to the spiciness of the dishes, it was a sweat-induced affair.
Located on Washington in SONO, the place occupies the old Relish pot (jfood thinks), with a bar to the left and tables along the wall to the right. The host(ess) were very friendly, seated immediately, server approached for drink orders and menus and everything was great. Since jfood is not a very knowledgeable Indian orderer, he let others order. What jfood knows if that lamb biryani, chicken tiki masala, spinach (Shaam Savera) and cheese, chick peas, a potato dish, another lamb dish, another chicken dish, a shrimp dish, two orders of rice and a few orders of naan (garlic and peshwari). This was more than enough for 6 people. The menu has three levels of heat.
The dishes were a little spicier than the other great Indian restaurant in the area, Thali, and everyone enjoyed. The only dish that jfood was not really fond of was the shrimp, it lacked any flavor but others liked this one a lot. The orders included both mild and medium heat and jfood will state that none of the dishes were too spicy. All of the dishes arrived simultaneously and it was a feast to behold at the table.
For all of this food, four cocktails, two wines and a couple of bottles of water the pre-tax bill was $180. It was a great evening for food and friends.
