OK I have a weird topic and I hope there is someone out there who knows what I am talking about. Recently, for I would say about the last 2 years or so, I have been noticing a new kind of chicken show up in restaurants, (so far only inexpensive restaurants). It seems to little by little creeping up in more and more places. The first time I noticed it was in Baja Fresh a little time after the merger. The chicken does not look like chicken, it looks like fish, the color and texture closer to fish, and has a flakiness, that chicken just should not have. The taste is OK, blandish, but its the texture that freaks me out. I have then started noticing it since then at some other restaurants, I can't remember all of them but recently had the same kind of chicken in several middle eastern restaurants, just because of the fact we eat out a lot at middle eastern restaurants : a kebab at Massis, and Tempo restaurant and a few others that I can't remember off hand. Is this a new breed of genetically engineered chicken? Does anyone know what I am talking about?
